not sure there's much of a comparison between McCain's relationship to Hagee and Obama's to Wright. Hagee is not McCain's pastor or mentor nor is McCain even a member of his church as is the case for Obama. It has to be assumed that, to some degree, Obama is comfortable with Jeremiah Wright's views, which should be most troubling to anyone who is voting for him because they think he will bring reconciliation to our land.
or could it be that conservatives are simply coalescing behind the candidate that they think can beat the Democrat? I think electability is the silver bullet here not a shift in ideology.

just an observation - the decision not to have a second choice or preference in either the nomination process or the general election is somewhat unusual. in most (not all) other decisions in life we are willing to settle for our second choice.
